Born in 1951 in Johannesburg John couldn’t wait to pick up a guitar at age 6. Later hitting folk clubs as a singer songwriter he went to London in 1971 where he signed to CBS records and produced a single with producer Shel Talmy. (The Kinks, The Who ‘My Generation’). Returning to South Africa as a session singer he sang Delta Queen that hit the European charts and later the Hot RS version.
Still in the disco dance scene he sang the ever popular ’Eloise Concerto’ (The disco vision of Barry Ryan’s song Eloise) and was a founder member lead singer fronting power house bands like ‘Backtrax’ made up of record producers and studio musicians and, ‘City Limits’. He then went on to dominate the advertising industry producing soundtracks for film, radio and television winning awards in each genre internationally. Now in his latest release ‘Lets Dance’ John’s voice hits the airwaves again.
Penned and produced in his studio it follows on his earlier dance hit success. Another fierce dance track, the song is forged out of the struggle and celebration of freedom in South Africa. After sitting on the shelf, recently mastered in NYC the track is getting playlisted worldwide.
