Dust & Echos are a musical partnership, made of Jodilee Jessop and Dennis Pitt, and adding various other
quality musicians when required. Often dubbed “The
Waifs on steroids” Dust & Echos are a unique quality
act with their hearts deep in grassroots spontaneity,
rhythm and blues, country, rock , and soul.
Jodi-lee was brought up with a multitasking musician
Dad, he played all instruments, but was undoubtedly
mostly known as a lead singer and a front man. Coming
from a long line of live playing musicians spanning over
150 years, Jodi-lee most definitely has music in her
blood. Previously . In the past Jodi-lee has also worked
in various capacities in the community, mainly in
support roles as a music therapist in palliative care and
with teaching music to children. Dennis was also
brought up with musicians all around him, attending
the Tamworth Country Music Festival from a young
age, learning drums and guitar and bass, playing on the
streets of Tamworth with busking royalty, his family,
The Kelly Gang, he learnt everything he knows by ear.
Dennis provides the perfect solid and beautiful
support on rhythm and leads guitars, for Jodi-lee's
vocal versatility. Known mostly for their ability to
perform any genre live and playing, what Jodi-lee calls”
the fabric of people’s lives” they are also both singer
songwriters, performing solo, before they met a little
over 7 years ago at a local art gallery, where Jodi-lee
worked. This meeting was the beginning of something
quite unique, soul soothing and spiritual for them both,
and they have been booked solid from that meeting.
Dust & Echos have recently recorded their long-awaited
original album In the Blood with the father of ‘grass
roots country’ Bill Chambers, who they were invited to
perform with at Bill’s renowned ‘Hill Billy Highway
Show’ in Tamworth earlier this year. That live
performance struck a chord with many of Australian
country players, and many having been waiting to see
what they will do next.
Making their Dust & Echos debut album was truly a
beautiful experience for them. Completing a full album
in 4 days, with just the 3 of them, is a credit to Jodi-lee,
Dennis and Bill. An album which explores most every
style of Country/Alt Country, including songs like
‘Cocoon’ first written by Jodi-lee 22 years ago, to ‘Leave
the Light On’ that was written the night before
recording. Many of the album tracks co-written by Jodilee and Dennis express the gratitude they have for each
other and each one’s ability to continue together
playing music through extreme challenges, such as The
Black Summer Bush fires which they were both caught
in and Jodi-lee lost family. Song writing and playing live
is the best way they feel, they can tell their stories and
communicate love.
