Back in the day, there was no distinction between Italo, acid and house. When Beat Band unleashed their soulful Italo house banger “Dance Now” onto the dancefloors in 1991, even rap parts in dance tracks were not totally uncommon. Though hip house has since proven to be probably the most revival-resistant club genre, Harry Nipples and jo.desaga deliver a contemporary twist on the niche genre.
With driving progressive house grooves, acid synths and disco string arrangements, the original oldschool house flair of “Dance Now” morphs into a euphoric piano house anthem, bridging the gap between ecstasy-fueled 90s rave nostalgia and the trance-affiliated house sound of the present. With a shared love for high-energy power house and catchy piano hooks, the tongue-in-cheek attitude of Harry Nipples’ Italo disco-inspired DJ sets blends seamlessly with jo.desaga’s percussive drum productions, punchy basslines and trancy synth riffs. For their first release on ZYX Records Berlin-based DJ Harry Nipples and producer jo.desaga team up to celebrate the past and present of acid house with two versions of „Dance Now“.
„Acid house it's plain and it's simple, Pump up the bass and raise up the treble Plain and simple, acid is bold This style of music I feel won't grow old!“
