Intended Immigration's sweets-themed EP "I Want Candy (Electro Swing Remix)" will put you in the mood for a treat-filled fall season while still cherishing the sweet memories of summer.
Intended Immigration’s new track for this year's Halloween celebration is a high-energy, highly entertaining electro swing remix of "I Want Candy" that mixes the sweet swinging sounds of big band jazz with an exciting danceable house beat. The candy-craving female vocalist is surrounded by a sonic sugar rush of lovingly arranged live instruments including a playful piano, sugary saxes, roaring trumpets, a howling clarinet, a bouncy banjo and a hard-driving swing guitar.
The second track on the sheepishly sugar-centric EP, the original "Biscuits and Cake," is a charmingly cheeky electro-swing house beat on the topic of the quintessential English tradition of tea time, whereas tea is declined, in this case, in favor of biscuits and cake. The track features a fetching female voice-over harmonized by a clarinet-led saxophone section that perfectly captures the singsong of cultured British speech. The arrangement is full of delightful twists and turns, and showcases lush jazz melodies carried both by the vocals and the winds.
Next up is Intended Immigration's version of "All I Do Is Dream Of You," a neo-retro cover of the classic song combining the rich sounds of jazz with a fat swinging house beat. Besides the familiar brass and saxes, the arrangement features some lovingly recorded sultry strings to form the backdrop for an intriguing female vocal, both romantic and flirtatious. In certain spots, the cheeky arrangement leaves it provocatively open what it is exactly the singer does "the whole night through". A neighing trumpet winks tellingly.
Track four is Intended Immigration's cover of the classic "Sunny," an infectiously happy electro-swing offering with a high-energy house beat showcasing a wonderfully jazzy female vocal surrounded by a chatty clarinet, a fierce banjo, a lively stride piano and hard-swinging drums. The track is full of entertaining surprises and features a drop with a catchy scat hook that will inevitably put a smile on your face as you remember bright and cheerful summer days.
The EP finishes with another load of sugar, a musical desert if you will, namely the artist's version of the hit song “Cake By The Ocean” that blends a driving house beat with uplifting swing guitars, raunchy big band brass and a refreshingly funky bass line. The sassy female vocals turn the tables on the original and are hoping for the same hedonistic pleasures with a chorus that builds tension and anticipation and resolves in a hard-partying drop that features a sexy vocal and trumpet combo.
