Originally from Belgium and formed in 2023, Sous sol district is an alternative and committed French-language music group. Their music draws on a range of influences, from gypsy to reggae, for a pop sound that's original and made in the local area. The 5 members of the group are self-taught and work together to produce a coherent, varied and energetic musical product.
Inspired by social life and social change, the compositions are penned by Don Midrez, who also teaches social work and is the band's leader. Both dark and happy, the lyrics describe a critical and relaxed world with a light and optimistic groove. ”Le voyage de Pinocchio” is a song inspired by an old TV series from the 1970s that talks about digital hegemony with humour and derision.
