Emerging country music artist EV Mae has released her new single, “Pass Me On By,” a fiery declaration of individuality and independence. The self-penned track gives country music fans—and prospective suitors—a candid introduction into who she really is. ’Pass Me on By’ is actually my autobiography,” EV Mae said.“It’s all about what makes me who I am. I’m a country girl who loves to hunt and fish. I drive a big truck and love to roll coal while driving down backcountry roads. I’m a tomboy so if there’s someone looking for a girl who doesn’t like to sling mud and hunt, they need to pass me on by.”
EV Mae, 18, grew up in Southern Indiana, but relocated to Clarksville, Tennessee, to be near her label, Clarksville Creative Sound, and her legendary producer Curt Ryle. A Nashville veteran, Ryle has produced the likes of Mel Tillis, George Jones and Vern Gosdin, and played on albums for Justin Moore, Chris Stapleton and Taylor Swift. He co-owns the label and studio with Fort Worth, Texas-based artist and businessman Steve Markwardt.
EV Mae is backed on the track by a collection of A-list Nashville session musicians, including Grand Ole’ Opry fiddler Wanda Vick, who also plays mandolin, dobro and banjo, Dane Bryant (Dolly Parton and Olivia Newton John) on keyboard, Jimmy Carter (George Jones, Alan Jackson Tim McGraw) on bass, Dennis Holt (Hank Williams Jr., Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn, Chris Stapleton) on drums, and Jon Conley (Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Kenny Chesney) on guitar.
This has been a year of firsts for EV Mae, who debuted in March on the “Penny Gilley Show” on RFD-TV, and began filming a soon-to-be-released reality show, “Small Town Sound” for the American Country Network. It will take viewers behind the scenes of the writing room, production and touring for a talented group of Clarksville Creative Sound artists. Earlier this month she had a featured slot at the Cowtown Birthplace of Western Swing Festival at historic National Hall in Fort Worth, Texas. It was her second time playing National Hall in 2024, with the first being a February concert featuring other Clarksville Creative Sound artists.
She kicked off the year with her single, “Knee Deep In A River” atop the Euro ACM Chart for the week of Jan. 8, and followed that up with her single “New Lyric” topping the chart for the week of April 22. Her single “My Kinda Red” hit No. 4 on the chart for the week of Nov. 11, and continues to climb. She also received her first nomination for a Josie Award, which recognizes the accomplishments of independent artists across many genres.
“I have had an amazing 2024,” EV Mae said. “And while it seems hard to beat this year, I’m determined to kick everything into high gear in 2025. My goal is for this next year is to continue to star on ‘Small Town Sound,’which I know will be a big hit, and I’m aligning myself with some incredible songwriters and will be working on recording several more singles.”
