Phill's journey into country music began with pure passion, a devoted fan who
became a performer through his deep love for the genre.
From an early age, Phill JD was the DJ for his grandfather's fishing trips, spun
country classics, sang in church choirs, and wrote poetry that would later
evolve into songs with international appeal. His love for country music has
always been in his blood, and it continues to drive him forward.
After spending years writing songs and performing across the Eastern States of
Australia, Phill took a step back to focus on family life.
However, the call of the stage brought him back in 2018, and his career has
been steadily rising ever since. In 2020, he recorded his debut EP produced by
Simon Johnson at Hillbilly Hut Studio and released his first single “Praying For
Rain.” The song was a hit, gaining international airplay on both local and online
radio, and it held a spot on the Airplay Express International Country Chart Top
40 for an impressive 34 weeks, even reaching No. 1. Phill JD has also had
success with a songwriting collaboration recording a duet titled "A Dozen
Letters" with Sandy Louise in 2022.
2023 saw the release of "Dead Man's Boots" which really found some
momentum both upon radio and online internationally.
In 2024, Phill has continued to make waves with the release of two new singles,
“Shaking Breaking Legs” and “The Greatest Game of All.” These songs have
been gaining radio support both internationally and at home in Australia. "The
Greatest Game of All," produced by country legend Bill Chambers, is a rousing
anthem Phill wrote as a tribute to rugby league and the game of life itself.
Meanwhile, "Shaking Breaking Legs," which tells the story of Phill's first public
performance and fans can be excited with its upcoming Starchaserz Nashville
dance remix release produced by multi-Billboard award winning and Grammy
nominated Sam Michaels (Klubjumpers) - a thrilling fusion of country and
dance sounds that’s set to drop worldwide within October 2024.
Phill's talent has earned him spots at major events like the Bluewater Country
Music Festival, multiple finalist positions in the Tamworth Songwriters
Association Awards, Grand finalist spot at FretFest in the 2020 Tamworth
Country Music Festival which gave him the opportunity to shine at both the
TCMF FanZone and Family stages.
As he continues to balance his love of music with family life, Phill’s goal is to
connect with audiences all over Australia, sharing his music with the heart and
authenticity that has always been at the core of his journey.
