Steve Hillier - Musician's Blues

Steve Hillier is a veteran keyboard player, vocalist and songwriter from the United States. He started playing piano and composing music as a teenager growing up in Darien, Connecticut, and after 30 years as a sideman behind recording artists Bobby Stringer and Betty Padgett, he released his debut solo album in 2018. His songs, written during the past 50 years, include blues, jazz, funk, soul, pop, singer-songwriter, psychedelic and progressive rock. His main focus when writing songs, however, is always melody.

Steve’s most recent single, from his forthcoming EP “Wintertime”, was recorded using two outstanding musicians from the United Kingdom. Steve Giddings blues-drenched guitar soars on top of Glenn Welman’s thunderous drumming. Hillier’s keyboards and passionate vocals completes this powerhouse trio. The heartfelt lyrics, of a musician’s love and struggle perfecting his craft, inspired Leraynne S. to create the haunting cover art.

Steve Hillier is an artist with a focus on creating music that blurs the lines between various styles. From progressive rock to blues, jazz and psychedelic rock, he is always eager to explore new creative avenues and set the bar higher with top-level musicianship and quality production. His most recent release, ”Musician’s Blues,” is a perfect example. The single offers an insight into his diverse style and ability to combine different influences into a one-of-a-kind vision.
